My momma…

Okay, I have an AWFUL confession.  It has been sixteen months since I started scrapping and I have never done a page on my mother!!  I know—I should be ashamed.

So my challenge for this week is for us to start thinking about our mothers.  Mother’s day is right around the corner, and we need to get in the spirit of celebrating the women that love us.
So here’s the challenge:
  1. Use at least four different papers on this layout.
  2. Use a page border
  3. Add a picture of your mother or the person you consider to be most like your mother.
  4. Add a cluster somewhere on the LO
  5. Create a title with the word “mother” in it
  6. Journal something special about your mother that you would like others to know about her.

Digi Dares

Alright, when I started these dares I told you that I wanted to introduce you to some other great dares around the web.  The one I am going to introduce to you this week has all kinds of great ideas to help you get out of a scrapping dry spell.

The Digi Dares are published weekly, and each week they select some of the best from the previous week to showcase on their website.  These dares really vary in their content, but all of them tend to encourage journaling.

One of my favorite journaling pages I have ever done was one of these dares - Family words.

Here’s their most recent dare – DIGI DARE 176#

I think this one is so appropriate for the guilty mom’s club.  Here’s the basic idea – We are all divided in everything that we are committed to doing.  We have obligations every which way. So the challenge is to journal about each of the ways you are pulled.

Below are the guidelines for DIGI DARE #176 -
“So… let’s create a visual for ourselves, shall we? And when i say visual, I mean something that can give you an *instant* view into your life. Maybe a graph or a chart, maybe different segments of journaling or images… anything that shows the areas in your life that are most important to you. Where, when, how much, and by whom are you divided by or stretched between? You can show the good, the bad, and the ugly… totally up to you. Here are some guidelines that will help you get it all translated onto a layout…
Dare Flares:
*The main design of the layout should be in the form of or based around a graph or a chart. It doesn’t *have* to be a pie chart or a bar graph… feel free to be creative here. As long as it’s something visual that clearly shows the different areas of your life.

*Each “section” of your life should contain a title (to show what that section represents).

*Each section must also be distinctive and able to stand alone. Have each section vary in size, shape, or color… use a form of measurement or number… or even images and text. Again… feel free to be creative here!

*Photos are not a must but if you choose to use them, personal and/or stock photos are acceptable.
Make it as clean and graphic as you like, or as layered and jumbled as you like. You can make it all deep and serious, or exaggerated and funny. Just make sure each area can be recognized. And as always, have FUN with it and be expressive!!! I can’t wait to see what you create!”

Getting back in the game

Wow!  Life has been super busy around here.  I haven’t had a chance to breath in the evenings, and not a moment to scrapbook:-(

I’m going to do a scrap lift challenge for this week’s challenge.  I will link you to the original at the end of this post, and will try to get a page of my own scrapped ASAP!

Here’s the Challenge:

Select a solid color background.

Layer a smaller square of patterned paper (about one inch smaller on all sides) on top of the background to create a border effect.

Layer a smaller square of solid paper on top of the patterned paper on top of the second layer, again making a border.

Place a square picture on the top layer of paper.

Place three ribbons/strips of paper under the picture.

Add a cluster to one corner of the picture.

Add journaling, the date and a title.

A big thanks to Shawn Snowdon for the original page – It can be seen here.

A template challenge - Squares

I have been SUPER busy with trainings at work and the Easter holiday.  I am going to be out of town Wednesday through Saturday of this week too, so I haven’t had much time to scrap or blog.

Today I have a sketch challenge for you.  Have you ever used a sketch to scrap?  Here’s how I use sketches or PSE templates in MMS.  The first step is to save a .jpeg file of the sketch or template you plan to use in MMS.  Don’t worry about if the quality is poor or not because you just need it as a guide.  So here’s the template sketch that I am using today – It’s a freebie from  Simple Scrapper – TEMPLATE PICTURE.

Next I open MMS and open my .jpeg picture of the sketch or template.  I layout my photo boxes over the photos in the template, delete the picture of the template and then save the photo layout with the template name.  (Remember you have to be in Run as Administrator mode to save a photo layout)

After you have your photo layout complete, drop in your papers, pictures and elements.  Simple as pie!  So let’s see what you come up with this template challenge.
